There’s a new Mister in coffee town: MAN!

There’s a new Mister in coffee town: MAN!

There are times for coming, and times for going.

Goodbye Mister LGB, and welcome Milk MAN.

Mister LGB was developed back in 2009 for the Barista Championships and was originally called Little Green Bag. (You can read more about the meaning behind the name in this earlier post I wrote for our 20th anniversary)

First of all, over the years we noticed that the abbreviation LGB — whether we liked it or not — had drifted into the slipstream of the LGBTQ+ movement. Not a bad thing in itself, but also not exactly practical for a coffee blend.

Then there was the growing trend towards more natural processed coffees. We followed that movement too, launching a fixed colour and bag specifically for this style of coffee.

But most of all, there was the tricky balancing act of creating a blend that pulls a perfect espresso, tastes amazing with milk, and still shines as a black espresso. In practice, we often saw that many people loved their espresso shots with milk, but not without it.

In all Caffenation bars — except our Amsterdam location — Mr LGB runs on the main grinder, with a second grinder for Espresso of the Week. That setup avoids the issue, but for all the Mr LGB lovers out there with just one grinder, we think we’ve found the solution. We stay very close to what was loved, a couple of clean washed coffees preferably from African soil, and added a touch of clean natural.

We gave it a new name and wrapped it straight away in a new package which has the colour of oat milk, and the name leaves nothing to the imagination:
MILK MAN — sweet and clean espresso, even better with milk. 🥛☕️
